Can CBD Improve Blood Flow and Memory?

A recent study conducted by researchers at UCL has revealed that a single dose of cannabidiol (CBD) can help increase blood flow to the hippocampus, an important area of the brain associated with memory and emotions. The study found that CBD lowers blood pressure at rest and increases heart rate in response to stress, which could have implications for people taking CBD. Further research is needed to determine if CBD can be used to treat cardiovascular disorders. The study also showed that CBD improves cerebral blood flow, which could potentially improve memory. The effects of CBD on systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), mean blood pressure (MAP), heart rate (HR), systolic volume (SV), cardiac output (CO), ejection time (EJT), total peripheral resistance (TPR) and cutaneous forearm blood flow were measured for two hours after ingestion of the drug.

The results showed a general trend towards a decrease in SBP, MAP, DBP, SV, TPR, cutaneous forearm blood flow and left ventricular TEJ, and an increase in HR in subjects who had taken CBD. The FDA-approved prescription CBD product Epidiolex has been found to be effective in treating seizures related to rare conditions such as Dravet syndrome. Other studies have also suggested that CBD may be beneficial for people with social anxiety and other anxiety-related disorders. Post-hoc analysis showed a general trend towards a decrease in SBP, MAP, DBP, SV, TPR, cutaneous forearm blood flow and left ventricular TEJ, and an increase in HR in subjects who had taken CBD. CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant and then diluting it with a carrier oil such as coconut oil or hemp seed oil. This could be due to the analgesic properties of CBD, which reduce cold stress and thus minimize the sympathetic response.
