Hemp oil and cannabidiol (CBD) oil are two different products derived from the same plant, Cannabis sativa. Hemp oil is extracted from the small seeds of the plant, while CBD oil is extracted from the stems, leaves, and flowers. The main difference between the two is the cannabinoid content; hemp oil contains only trace amounts of CBD, while CBD oil contains a much higher concentration of cannabinoids. Broad-spectrum CBD products contain all cannabinoids and terpenes except THC (and cannabinoids lower than THC, such as THCA and THCV).
CBD oil can be purchased in isolation, meaning that all other cannabinoids and terpenes have been removed by filtration or in broad or full spectrum form, meaning that some or all of the other cannabinoids remain. Before processing, the product is heated after extraction to activate CBD and other cannabinoid compounds found in cannabis. Hemp oil extract is an extract rich in cannabinoids that contains more than 140 beneficial cannabinoids that produce the entourage effect, while CBD oil is an isolated extract of a single cannabinoid. Unlike CBD oil, which is made with all parts of the cannabis plant, hemp oil or hemp oil come solely from the seeds of the plant.
CBD has benefits on its own, such as controlling stress and improving sleep quality, but it loses the synergistic benefits of other cannabinoids and terpenes when taken in isolation. While CBD and THC are the best-known cannabinoids, the hemp plant contains more than 140 different cannabinoids in total. If you're concerned about THC, even in small amounts, you should try CBD oil or broad-spectrum hemp oil. Most importantly, the benefits of CBD don't change if it's cannabis-derived CBD or hemp-derived CBD. Hemp plants contain much more CBD, making them the most lucrative option for manufacturers and the option with the least potential legal ramifications.
The U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) considers any CBD product containing more than 0.3% THC to be a Schedule I drug in states where the recreational use of cannabis is not legal. It's important to note that even though hemp and CBD come from the same plant, they are not exactly the same thing. Before taking either product, it's important to talk to a health professional or cannabis clinician to ensure that it's safe for you to do so.
Also keep in mind that the FDA has not approved over-the-counter CBD products and that some products may be incorrectly labeled.
